AUTHOR'S POV

Rudransh stared at his reflection in the mirror, adjusting his uniform before heading out for his daily shift as a police officer. It had been his dream to serve his country and protect its citizens, and he was proud to be living that dream.

As he made his way through the busy streets of the city, his mind wandered to the conversation he had with his parents the other night. that he was engaged to Ruhanika, whom he had not seen or spoken to in years. The news had caught him off guard, and he couldn't understand why his parents had kept this from him for so long.

Ruhanika, on the other hand, was busy tending to her patients at the hospital. As a doctor, she was dedicated to her profession and had little time for anything else. However, her thoughts kept drifting to the conversation she had with her parents as well. about her childhood engagement with Rudransh, and she couldn't help but wonder what he was like now.

After much contemplation, Rudransh and Ruhanika decided to meet and talk about this unexpected news. They both were hesitant and curious at the same time. They didn't know what to expect from each other.

Their parents had set up a meeting for them at a fancy restaurant in the evening. and asked both of them to meet..

The day passed by in a blur for both Rudransh and Ruhanika, their minds preoccupied with the news of their engagement.

As the evening approached, both of their phones buzzed simultaneously, notifying them of a message from their parents.

Rudransh arrived at the restaurant first, nervously fidgeting with his phone. He was not ready for this marriage even after the discussion done with his bestfriend ,

he is not ready to let his guard down.. he still thinks that his profession demanded his whole attention, and he is unsure if he is ready for a committed relationship yet.

Just then, Ruhanika entered the restaurant, As she spotted Rudransh, her heart skipped a beat. She couldn't believe that she was finally going to meet the person she was engaged to all those years ago.

rudransh took a deep breath as he saw a woman dressed in white suit approaching their table. He knew it was Ruhanika, the woman his parents had chosen for him to marry

"RUDRANSH, IT'S SO NICE TO FINALLY MEET YOU," she said, reaching out her hand for him to shake. rudransh ignored her hand and kept his arms crossed over his chest.

"I CAN'T SAY THE SAME," he replied, his voice filled with bitterness.

Ruhanika was taken aback by his rude demeanor and the harshness of his tone. She sat down across from him, trying to keep a smile on her face.

"THIS IS ABSURD! HOW CAN OUR PARENTS EXPECT US TO GET MARRIED WHEN WE DON'T EVEN KNOW EACH OTHER..? I KNOW WE WERE ENGAGED AS KIDS AND WE DIDN'T HAVE A SAY IN IT, BUT NOW WE ARE ADULTS AND WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE OUR OWN DECISIONS,'" Rudransh said, clearly frustrated.

Ruhanika looked at him, trying to understand his perspective. She had always been a hopeless romantic, dreaming of finding her soulmate and living happily ever after. But now, it seemed like her dreams were shattered.

"I KNOW IT'S UNCONVENTIONAL AND THIS ISN'T AN IDEAL SITUATION FOR EITHER OF US, BUT LET'S AT LEAST TRY TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER," she suggested.., trying to keep her calm.

Rudransh let out a mocking laugh, "GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER?

WHAT'S THERE TO KNOW? WE WERE ENGAGED AS KIDS, FOR GOD'S SAKE! THAT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING.

I DON'T WANT TO MARRY SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE OUR PARENTS SAID SO. I HAVE A CAREER TO FOCUS ON, AND I CAN'T LET ANYONE JEOPARDIZE IT,"

Ruhanika's smile faded as she heard his words. She could sense his anger and frustration, She had always been known for her patience and she was determined to give this marriage a chance.

"YOU THINK I DON'T HAVE A CAREER? I'M A DOCTOR, AND MY WORK IS JUST AS IMPORTANT TO ME. BUT I BELIEVE THAT TWO PEOPLE CAN WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE A RELATIONSHIP WORK," Ruhanika countered.

and after few seconds she sighed and again started speaking

"I UNDERSTAND THAT WE WERE ENGAGED WITHOUT OUR CONSENT,

BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN WE CAN'T MAKE THE MOST OF IT.

AFTER ALL, OUR PARENTS HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR YEARS AND THEY WOULDN'T WANT US TO BE UNHAPPY," she replied calmly.

Rudransh raised an eyebrow in disbelief, "OUR PARENTS? THEY ARE THE REASON WE ARE IN THIS MESS. THEY CAN'T JUST DECIDE OUR FUTURE WITHOUT EVEN ASKING US!"

Ruhanika nodded in agreement, "I AGREE, BUT WE CAN'T CHANGE THE PAST. WE CAN ONLY MAKE THE BEST OF THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE."

Rudransh sighed, he knew she was right. He also understood the importance of fulfilling his parents' wishes. But he couldn't help but feel like he was being forced into something he wasn't ready for.

Rudransh leaned back in his chair,

"LOOK, RUHANIKA, I'M NOT READY FOR THIS MARRIAGE.

I HAVE A DEMANDING JOB AS A POLICE OFFICER AND I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR A RELATIONSHIP, LET ALONE A MARRIAGE."

Ruhanika could see the pain and fear in his eyes, but she refused to back down. She reached out and placed her hand on top of his,

"I UNDERSTAND YOUR CONCERNS, BUT I'M WILLING TO GIVE THIS MARRIAGE A CHANCE.

I PROMISE TO SUPPORT YOU AND WORK ALONGSIDE YOU IN WHATEVER WAY I CAN.

OUR PARENTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR US, IT'S TIME WE MAKE THEM HAPPY TOO"

Rudransh looked at her in surprise, he didn't expect her to be so understanding. He was used to being in control and making his own decisions,

but here was a woman whose words striking a chord in his heart.

He couldn't deny that he felt a tug towards her. Maybe, just maybe, she could be the one who could break through his tough exterior and enter his heart.

Before he could say anything, their food arrived and they both started eating in silence.

After a few bites, Rudransh spoke up,

"WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? WHY ARE YOU WILLING TO MARRY SOMEONE YOU BARELY KNOW?"

Ruhanika smiled, "BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN MAKING THE BEST OF EVERY SITUATION. AND WHO KNOWS, WE MIGHT ACTUALLY END UP FALLING IN LOVE."

Rudransh couldn't believe her optimism, but he couldn't deny the small spark of hope that ignited within him.

He had always been a loner, but here was a woman who was willing to stand by his side.

He realized that Ruhanika was a strong and resilient woman, someone who could challenge him and make him a better person.

maintaning his cold demeanor rudransh said "I'M SURE I WONT FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU"

ruhanika smirked at him,"LETS SEE"

finishing their dinner both bid their byes and drove back home

both thought that "Maybe, just maybe, this arranged marriage wouldn't be such a bad thing after all."
